About

I discovered computers in 1985 while serving in the US Army in South Korea, where I learned programming on an IBM XT. After returning home, I dove into PCs, modems, online services, and eventually the BBS world, becoming a regular user and later a sysop of my own board, L00ney T00nes BBS.

Those early online communities shaped both my personal life and my career, leading me into a lifelong path in information technology. Today I work as an IT Business Systems Analyst, but I still have a deep appreciation for the smaller, more personal online spaces that BBSs represented.

This board is part nostalgia, part hobby, and part belief that smaller communities often make for a better online experience.

Specs

The BBS is running two nodes of Renegade 1.40, which is a modern version of the original Renegade that still runs on DOS. I configured a 86Box VM to be period correct. Running the following specs:

• SiS 460 ABIT AB-AV4 – i486 (Socket 168 and 1)
• Intel i486DX2/66
• 4MB RAM
• ISA Tseng Labs ET4000AX Graphics card
• Two COM Standard Hayes-compliant modem adapters (COM1/COM2) each with telnet emulation.
• PC/AT IDE Controller with two 240MB hard drives
• Two floppy drives (3.5 1.44M, 5.25 1.2MB)
• ATAPI 8x CD-ROM drive
• MS-DOS 6.22
• QEMM 7.5 memory management
• DESQview 2.8 Window environment
